Nick Malcom - Trumpet
Nick Malcolm is a Bristol-based trumpet player specialising in contemporary jazz and free improvisation. The Nick Malcom Quartet [featuring pianist Alexander Hawkins, bassist Olie Brice and drummer Ric Yarborough] released two albums, ‘Glimmers’ (2012) on FMR records, and 'Beyond These Voices' (2014) on his own label, Green Eyes. Nick’s latest project jade aims to deconstruct through sampling, improvisation, and original compositions influenced by JDilla, the AACM, Burial, and Anglican Church music. The band will be touring this year for the release of 'Real Isn't Real’, supported by the PRS Foundation. As a sideman, Nick is a member of Eliza Carthy's Wayward Band, vocalist Emily Wright’s Moonlight Saving Time, Rebecca Nash's Atlas, The Greg Cordez Quintet and George Cooper's Jazz Defenders. He also teaches trumpet and improvisation privately and at Wells Cathedral School.
